We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.

What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is serious about innovation. About being the first and being the best. We are building a future using technologies like 5G, Multi-Access Edge Computing, and Artificial Intelligence that are allowing us to create products that were previously impossible. We’re building tomorrow with the best of today.

We have a unique ability to develop next generation platforms, influence technology standards, forge durable business partnerships, and define the playing field for the next wave of technology innovation with applications such as embedded network security, network slicing, connected cars, asset tracking and more. Within these evolving ecosystems, Verizon is uniquely positioned to capture new growth and value opportunities.

In this role, you will rely on your quantitative, qualitative, executive leadership, and innovative thinking skills to develop strategic recommendations that drive growth and profitability for the Verizon Business Group (VBG). The portfolio of work spans across the Public Sector Business Unit’s go-to-market customer segments – i.e., across Federal, State, Local Education and Education (SLED) and Public Safety segments.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire Verizon Business Group’s product portfolio.

  • Adopt a well-structured approach for opportunity assessment and strategy definition.

  • Research and apply critical thinking to industry trends, competitor dynamics and current trends to provide relevant business insights.

  • Develop insights on industry challenges and new opportunities through competitive analysis and market research.

  • Develop effective presentations and narratives.

  • Explain relative value creation by looking at competitive benchmarks, industry trends and market dynamics.

  • Participate in scenario planning and “war gaming” workshops.

  • Partner with leadership by leveraging market insights to identify and conceptualize new growth opportunities that will advance business goals.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders—business unit executives, Verizon corporate finance and product development teams—to realize the value of strategic initiatives.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You are outcomes-driven, smart, hard-working, and a great team player. You thrive on new challenges, and are excited by the prospect of mastering new things. You are creative and visionary and can also roll up your sleeves to structure a project plan, develop an analytics tool, or craft a presentation. You are comfortable leading and following. You are confident enough to voice well-informed, dissenting opinions, yet always treat others and their views with respect.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in Public Sector market (Federal, SLED or Public Safety) and a bonus if experience with other large, complex enterprises.

  • Experience in corporate strategy, strategy consulting, technology consulting, corporate development, equity research, or investment banking.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • MBA.

  • Capability to be a structured thinker with a strong analytical approach.

  • Excellent research, problem solving, and analytical skills, including excellent PowerPoint and Excel capabilities, with impeccable analytical and business judgment.

  • Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills; high proficiency in Excel.

  • Ability to synthesize information quickly and present insights to senior management.

  • Background or demonstrated interest in telecom, technology or media industries.

  • Proven track record of problem identification, solution development, implementation and post-implementation monitoring and support.

  • Ability to be a team player with experience working both in teams and as an individual contributor.

  • Robust communication skills (long-form writing, PowerPoint and verbal).

  • Highly developed strategic skills and business acumen.

  • Experience arriving at the answer through a combination of independent research, financial analysis, competitive benchmarking and data; non-biased fact-based strategy formulation.

  • Proficiency with financial accounting and ability to identify insights from financial statements.

  • Intellectual curiosity, ability to be creative and thrive in a dynamic environment.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
